Lino Print x Collage Workshop

In this workshop you’ll be exploring what it means to Belong. Taking place on August 22nd at studio nagelneu, you’ll experiment with two creative techniques, lino printing and collage, and combine them into one final piece. Guided by artists Amanda & Emma, you’ll work with both intuitive layering and more intentional carving. No experience is needed. The workshop will be held in English and runs from 14:00 to 18:00 (registration required). From 18:30 onwards, the space opens up for a relaxed hangout where everyone is welcome to join, see the artworks, have a drink, and enjoy the atmosphere together.

Bottled Futures – kollektive Kunstaktion

Was verlieren wir im aktuellen Erleben der Klimakrise spürbar, woran halten wir fest und was wollen wir zukünftigen Generationen mitgeben?

Bottled Futures ist die Einladung, mittels kreativen Schreiben, Zeichnen und Sammeln Botschaften an die Zukunft zu richten. Die Flaschenpost ist dabei unser Medium, das Raum und Zeit überschreitet, ohne dass wir wissen, wer sie wann wo und wie empfangen wird.

Alisa Tretau realisiert Performances, Ausstellungen und Begegnungsräume an der Schnittstelle von Kunst und politischer Praxis, meist mit Bezug zu Körper, Care und Klimakrise.
Zuletzt veröffentlichte sie das online-Magazin www.nichtnurmuetter.de, schrieb und inszenierte das Theaterstück MUSK ON MARS (Heimathafen Neukölln) und kuratierte die intergenerationale Ausstellung PARENTING CLIMATE. Derzeit ist sie Stipendiatin im Kloster Gravenhorst.

Alisa war in institutionellen Kontexten wie dem HKW, Berliner Ensemble, Theatertreffen der Jugend, und verschiedenen Universitäten tätig. Sie leitete das Projekt „Kunst und Begegnungen” des Bündnis internationaler Produktionshäuser und kuratiert aktuell die Nachbarschaftsarbeit der Neuköllner Oper. Sie lebt mit zwei Kindern in Berlin.

This is not about saying things perfectly, rather it is an opportunity to make the best of what we have and practice making us understood and understanding others in German.
The idea, each session we will cook a meal from one of our cultures and learn the ingredients and any stories we want to share about the food, in German.
Otherwise we just hang out and really try to stick to using the German language and sometimes make a fool of ourselves.

This format is flexible we can amend it to our needs.

Please sign up, and regular attending is recommended but not necessary.

Guided Walk | Ecological Grief through ‚Transitional Momentum‘

An eco-somatic walk for metabolizing ecological grief and exploring interspecies creativity.

This partly guided walk through Prinzessinnengarten holds space for being with and metabolizing emotions we experience in times of profound socio-ecological change.

We will explore Transitional Momentum – an eco-somatic practice for navigating these changes by becoming receptive to other-than-human beings, their experiences of loss and the creativity inherent to transition processes.

By attuning with plants, we will create balance between human and more-than-human perspectives and expand our understanding of death and decomposition.

The event combines a walk, eco-somatic exercises, and space for conversation.

Durch Transitional Momentum – eine öko-somatische Praxis – werden wir den Pflanzen lauschen, uns ihren Erfahrungen von Verlust und Wachstum annähern und die Kreativität betrachten, welche Übergangsprozessen innewohnt.

Indem wir uns auf die größeren Ökologien einstimmen, kreieren wir eine Balance zwischen menschlichen und mehr-als-menschlichen Perspektiven.

Die Veranstaltung verbindet einen Spaziergang, öko-somatische Übungen und Raum für Gespräche.

Haunted by the ghosts of progress: a tour of lost futures

In the world today we’re no longer facing individual crises but a polycrisis of intersecting disasters. Climate breakdown. Extinction of species and ecosystems on an unprecedented level. The collapse of the international order and institutions of civil society. How did we get *here* when the arrow of history was supposed to point us to a better world of ever-increasing prosperity and progress? But maybe that’s the wrong question. What if our very notions of prosperity and progress were the good intentions that paved the road to this particular hell?

Samstag 31. Oktober 15 Uhr

On this tour, we’ll explore the Neuer St Jacobi Friedhof as a graveyard of lost futures. From political deals made for cheap energy and cheap food to the consumer fantasy of paying for things you don’t need with money you don’t have, it is nearly always an impossible vision of the future that the present is traded for. And it is these ghosts of progress that haunt us now: in the form of fire, floods and droughts; of flowers that no longer know when to bloom and migrating birds that don’t know where to fly; and in the form of our own distraction and confusion – our minds unable to focus, our bodies unable to rest.

We will visit sites in the cemetery and garden resonant with some of the specific false promises of progress like mobility and prosperity while tracing the narrative of “faster, better, cheaper” more broadly. The tour will incorporate sensory elements to ground ourselves in embodied awareness and forestall becoming an observer at a distance.

The event is planned to be in English with German translation as needed but can be switched to German entirely, depending on participants. Register via email: dear.nature@pm.me.

Embodied Listening with Plants

Embodied Listening with Plants explores how we listen to plants with and through our bodies and our experience of transitions. What emerges when we sink into our soma and become receptive to forms of expression from the plant realm?

Eco-somatic practices and imaginative capacities will create an entry point to connect with plants, attune with what usually escapes our attention and will bring us into a somatic state where our bodies can trace the subtle movements and frequencies of our environment.
Here, listening will be explored as a state of being that involves our full body and all of our senses. In a world in crisis – rooted in an extractivist mindset towards nature – entering these modes of listening to plants and to our own bodies, as part of the ecologies, can contribute to Regeneration and to building relationships of mutual care between humans and other-than-humans.
What kind of insights about death and decomposition ripple through, when we listen to plants?
Around the time of Samhain, surrendering to not-knowing and listening deeply will unfold myriad ways of moving Beyond Death.

Verkörpertes Zuhören mit Pflanzen erkundet, wie wir mit und durch unsere Körper pflanzlichen Welten zuhören und Übergangsprozesse erleben. Was zeigt sich, wenn wir in unsere Körper sinken und den Pflanzen lauschen?

Öko-somatische Praktiken und Imaginationskraft kreieren einen Zugang, um mit Pflanzen in Verbindung zu treten, das wahrzunehmen was uns normalerweise entgeht, und führen uns in einen somatischen Zustand, der uns erlaubt die feinen Frequenzen unserer Umgebung zu spüren.
Hier wird ‚Zuhören‘ als ein Seinszustand verstanden, der alle Sinne involviert.
In einer Welt geprägt von Krisen, die in einer extraktivistischen Haltung gegenüber der Natur wurzeln, kann das Praktizieren dieser Art des Zuhörens, gegenüber Pflanzen mit und durch unseren eigenen Körpern zu Regeneration beitragen.
Es kann Beziehungen gegenseitiger Fürsorge zwischen Menschen und mehr-als-menschlichen Welten bilden.
Unsere Körper als Wahrnehmungsinstrument mit feinen Antennen zu verstehen kreiert ein Resonanzfeld zwischen unseren inneren Ökologien und den größeren Ökologien.

Workshop | Traurig wegen Bäumen. Trauer und Widerstand um ökologische Verluste

Als Solastalgie bezeichnet der australische Naturphilosoph Glenn Albrecht die Trauer über den Verlust einer vertrauten Umwelt. Gleichzeitig bedeutet Solastalgie auch Trost in der Verbundenheit mit dem, was noch besteht.

Aber wie können Trauer und Trost angesichts ökologischer Verluste konkret aussehen? Anhand künstlerischer Methoden wollen wir in diesem dreistündigen Workshop Ausdrucksformen der Trauer im Kontext ökologischer Krisen erarbeiten und ihr widerständiges und tröstliches Potenzial erproben.

Elena bewegt sich zwischen Gestaltung, sozialwissenschaftlicher Forschung und politischer Bildung. Aktuell fragt sie sich, wie sich politische Arbeit verändern muss, wenn sich die Welt drum herum verändert. Und was das mit Straßenpollern zu tun hat.

Pia Eisenträger ist eine Berliner Künstlerin und gesellschaftlich engagierte Akteurin. In ihrer Arbeit verbindet sie Gestaltung mit gesellschaftlichem Engagement und entwickelt visuelle sowie kulturelle Projekte an der Schnittstelle von Kunst, Teilhabe und gesellschaftliche Transformation. Sie ist Teil der Geschäftsführung des Prinzessinnengarten Kollektiv Berlin.
